Sold out arena to watch Macklin Celibrini & Will Smith

SAN JOSE — The future remains uncertain for Macklin Celebrini and whether he will go pro, join the NHL, and play with the San Jose Sharks this season.

However, Celebrini’s influence on the Sharks franchise is already evident. This was clear from the approximately 3,000 fans who attended a midday scrimmage at Tech CU Arena on a national holiday to watch him and other top San Jose prospects.

“Last year, we had a pretty good crowd,” noted defenseman Eric Pohlkamp, a fifth-round draft pick from last year, “but this year’s turnout was definitely better.”

“He’s brought a renewed excitement to the San Jose Sharks organization,” said Todd Marchant, the Sharks’ director of player development. “The past few years have been challenging, but Celebrini has provided a sense of hope and optimism for the future.”
